Leaky Homes

Metro Construction has undertaken a number of projects involving moisture ingress into homes. It is an unfortunate fact that many homes built in the last 15 years in the monolithic (plaster look) style have issues pertaining to moisture entry. These leaks can occur in a wide range of ways from roof leaks, cladding and window details, through to capillary action from cladding being terminated below ground level.

Diagnosing leaks in buildings is often difficult without invasive testing methods, although new IR technology looks promising. We know this from experience as Zak owned a Moisture Testing business before joining Greg in Metro Construction. Hence we have some specialist skills already in house.

We are completely discreet and never discuss your home or moisture problems with anyone else. We understand that this is often a hard time for people both emotionally and financially, so we try our best to be supportive.

Metro has also worked with a Weathertight Resolution Expert to complete the major re-clad of a home in St Heliers. This was a 9 month project to re-clad the northern sea-facing elevation of the home, remove and replace all decks as well as a large percentage of rotten framing. From this project we have developed our own methodology that is fast and effective for dealing with major re-clads.

For smaller works where the leaks and damage is limited, we try our best to diagnose issues with the least amount of invasive testing, but often large sections are removed to determine the true nature of the problem. Often one area of damage can actually be several or more leaks working together. At the end of the day, we strive to find the best, most cost effective solution to your problem.
