Who We Are

Metro Construction was founded in 2004 with a focus on High Quality Residential and Light Commercial projects. Since that time, we have completed a number of prestigious works thanks to our highly experienced staff of qualified carpenters.

We believe in creating strong relationships with our clients so that every project we undertake is completed with integrity and dedication. Our attention and commitment to our clients and subcontractors is second to none.

Metro Construction was conceived by two colleagues who decided that it was time to integrate their business management and construction experience. Greg and Zak found that their individual backgrounds led to a unique combination of skills on which to found Metro.

Zak Williams graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Postgraduate Diploma of Management Systems and a Masters in Strategic and Project Management.  He has worked as a Business Analyst and Project Manager for companies such as Orica AU, Sainsbury’s UK, British American Tobacco, and Woolworths. Zak entered the construction industry around 8 years ago, has completed the National Certificate in Carpentry (Trade Certificate), and is now a fully Certified Builder. Zak has also completed the licencing process and is a Licenced Site 2 builder (Site 2 is the highest licence available for residential and commercial buildings, Site 3 is for building airports, stadiums, hospitals etc)

Greg Nell has been a builder for 18 years working in the United States, England and New Zealand. Greg has also had experience in event management and has been a foreman for several Auckland based companies.

Metro only employs carpenters who are trade qualified, or are undergoing an apprenticeship.  We have a commitment to the ongoing training and development of staff and offer professional development through industry courses on subjects such as Health and Safety, new products, and changes to industry regulations. We also endeavor to tailor course attendance to upcoming work, so that we are fully prepared for projects undertaken. This is just one of the ways we ensure that everything we do is to a high standard, and that our employees maintain a professional attitude.
